To lead our participants through this complex process, we welcomed an expert clay artist whose experience and enthusiasm for green artistry lent themselves to a unique perspective on the workshop. From the moment everyone arrived, there was a palpable excitement in the air. Guests were seated in their areas, eager to begin, tools at the ready to take a trip down the path of creativity. There was a sense of excitement, combined with a feeling of awe, as all of them stood ready to mold an idol that would soon fill their homes with blessings and happiness.

The workshop commenced with a short orientation on the importance of Ganesh Chaturthi and eco-friendly material usage for the idols. Our artist presented a step-by-step process of molding the clay, incorporating intricate details and making each artwork unique. What ensued was a captivating spectacle of focus, merriment and mutual learning. Guests dived into the sensory experience of molding the clay, the way they could feel their hands meet the artistic process. It was interesting to see how every individual embarked upon the task in a different manner, yet with the same passion and commitment.

With each passing session, the room filled with the vision of exquisitely shaping Ganpatis that were emerging. Each of the participants contributed his/her own touch, from delicately chiselled faces to complex patterns on the body and adornments. Some of the guests chose classic designs, but others tried out more modern styles. The individuality of each idol was a test of the personality and imagination of its maker, and it was obvious that there was no ‘one right way’ to worship Lord Ganesha.

The joy of creating was accompanied by moments of learning, as our clay artist shared tips and techniques to bring the idols to life. Guests eagerly absorbed the guidance, experimenting with textures, proportions and expressions. It was heartwarming to see the patience and care with which everyone worked, ensuring that their Ganpati idol was not just aesthetically pleasing but also crafted with love and devotion. The workshop beautifully blended artistry and spirituality, allowing participants to connect with the festival in a meaningful, hands-on way.

When the idols were finished, pride and satisfaction could be seen on every face. The room was full of admiration for the stunning variety and imagination of the idols. From small, exquisite sculptures to giant-sized masterpieces, each Ganpati stood witness to the skill and hard work of its creator. The experience was a reminder that festivals are not merely about rituals but also about individual expression, communal experience and happiness of creation.
